somewhere over the rainbow...

so i'm playing sudoku on my laptop while my wife is watching american idol (no, really). i haven't seen much of american idol this year, but this girl, katharine mcphee, starts singing "somewhere over the rainbow," one of my favorite songs of all time. i absolutely loved it. so then i find out that simon picked that song for her to sing.

is it just me, or is simon cowell the absolute best character in all of reality television? i haven't seen all that much reality television in my life, but simon plays the "bad guy" role fantastically. problem is that i almost always agree with his opinions. does that make me a bad guy? why does everyone hate him?

UPDATE: So I finished watching american idol and this taylor hicks guy is very annoying.
